You may have walked past your business entrance a hundred times and never noticed problems until a customer trips or your lock suddenly fails. Door issues can interrupt operations and damage your reputation. Mr. Handyman is here to help with reliable commercial door repair services. Overlooked commercial doors can lead to serious issues, including code violations and safety hazards. Most of the time, these aren’t problems that require full replacement. Minor home repairs that are done early can help you save money and keep things moving along. If you’re responsible for maintaining a commercial space, keep reading to learn about the most common issues that come with high-traffic doors.
ADA compliance is a legal requirement for commercial properties, and even small problems can put you out of spec. One of the most common hidden violations is a misaligned door frame. Doors that drag, don’t latch, or need extra force to open might seem like small annoyances, but for a wheelchair user or someone with limited mobility, the door becomes a barrier. A few millimeters of frame shift can change the clearance and maneuverability required under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Misalignment can happen gradually in older buildings or places with fluctuating temperatures. Expansion and contraction in wood or metal frames can nudge things out of square. So can repeated slamming or a heavy load being propped against the door. A skilled handyman can rehang the door, adjust the hinges, or shim the frame to bring it back into alignment. You don’t need to demo the whole entrance to get back into compliance.
Front entry doors in retail, medical, and hospitality settings see constant use. Eventually, the hinges loosen, closers stop functioning properly, and hardware starts to fail under pressure. The door might sag, scrape the ground, or feel wobbly when pulled. These problems usually come from fatigue in the supporting structures, not just the door itself. In many cases, the anchor points inside the frame have loosened or worn out from repeated stress. Reinforcing anchor points, upgrading the hinge system, or installing a better-quality closer can restore it. Businesses might assume a worn entry door means replacement is inevitable, but that’s not always true. Reinforcement can buy you years of reliable use, especially if the door panel itself is still in decent shape. A professional handyman in Hendersonville, TN can help you determine whether the weakness lies in the mounting hardware or the structure behind it. Either way, repairs are faster and more cost-effective than full replacement, and they avoid interrupting business traffic.
A picture hanging project went pear shaped after I bought some EXPENSIVE picture lights that came with HUGE plugs that would prevent the large paintings from lying flat against the wall. I called a local interior decorator looking for a picture hanging pro. She said she always used Mr. Handyman. So, I called them, and, within an hour, Bryan Clifton arrived at my door. What a good, capable guy! He knew exactly what to do, put up with my fumbling attempts to help, and got the job done in about an hour. Definitely will use them again and ask for Bryan first!
Our home projects were beautifully completed in a timely manner; the cost was surprisingly affordable and the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations! Additionally, the customer service was outstanding! Thank you Ryan Buzzetto from Mr. Handyman of E. Nashville and Hendersonville. We are already putting together a list for our next projects!
My wife had to go out of town on a business trip, so, I had the honey do list and decided to call Mr. Handyman. Well, Bryan Clifton was able to come out the same afternoon. He did an outstanding job. Was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the jobs that needed to be done. For a sink problems, he figured out he was not going to be able to do it so, he called his collage with the plumbing side of the company, Mr. Rooter. Another Bryan. Well, he also did any outstanding job, taking extra care to keep the area clean. Both men did an amazing jobs. I live in an old house that is always needed something done and I am getting a little too old to do these things, I have found the people to call now.
Stephen Powers of Mr. Handyman came to my house to replace a set of shutters after one of them had blown off of a 2nd story window on the front of my home during a storm. I had already ordered the replacement shutters, so I just needed one of the old shutters removed and the new set put into place. Though he had to retrieve a masonry drill bit before doing the work, Stephen completed the job in under an hour and the work he did is flawless. The new installation matched the old installation so well that everything matches perfectly and the work done is seamless. Stephen was super professional, helpful and polite and I would happily recommend Mr. Handyman for any home fix-up or improvements needs you might have.
A lock that turns loosely, a latch that doesn’t catch, or a panic bar that sticks could lead to a break-in or a failed inspection. Commercial door hardware is built to handle high use, but it's not indestructible. Components like electric strikes, mortise locks, or lever sets wear down. Weather can also affect how they perform. Sometimes the fix is as easy as tightening or replacing screws. Other times, a misaligned strike plate or an improperly adjusted closer causes parts to bind or wear unevenly. It’s important to look at the system as a whole. We’ve repaired countless doors where the core structure was fine, but a single hardware component was jeopardizing the whole system. Keeping your entrances secure doesn’t require a brand-new setup, but it’s a good idea to prioritize hardware maintenance.
Metal doors are common in commercial settings because they’re durable, fire-resistant, and have a professional appearance, but they do take a beating. Dents from carts or equipment, scratches, and rust spots can accumulate. A dented door might not close correctly, and rust can eat into the surface until it compromises the door’s strength. Small to medium dents can be pulled or filled without replacing the door. If rust is caught early, it can be sanded out, treated, and sealed to stop the spread. This kind of repair work is very useful for utility doors, back entrances, and warehouse access points that need to work well but don’t justify the cost of full replacement. In some cases, it’s possible to replace only the outer skin of the door or rework a damaged section of the frame.
If your business is dealing with a sticking front door, a rusted warehouse exit, or a security latch that isn’t doing its job, Mr. Handyman is here to help. We specialize in small to mid-sized commercial door repairs that will help you stay compliant, secure, and operational. Don’t wait until a door failure affects your business.
