Keep reading to find out exactly what we handle and how we can help.

What HVAC Services Cover and What People Usually Miss

Most homeowners think an HVAC company just shows up, fixes the broken part, and leaves. That's part of it, but there's a lot more on the list that tends to get skipped until something fails. Depending on the provider, that can include heating and cooling systems, ductwork, thermostats, refrigerant levels, and airflow. These components work together rather than independently. When one underperforms, it can affect the rest of the system.

One area homeowners often overlook is ventilation. Poor airflow can make rooms uncomfortable and push equipment to work harder than it needs to. If you're noticing hot or cold spots, or air that feels stale, it may be worth asking about airflow as part of a service visit.

Our Customers Love our Services

A picture hanging project went pear shaped after I bought some EXPENSIVE picture lights that came with HUGE plugs that would prevent the large paintings from lying flat against the wall. I called a local interior decorator looking for a picture hanging pro. She said she always used Mr. Handyman. So, I called them, and, within an hour, Bryan Clifton arrived at my door. What a good, capable guy! He knew exactly what to do, put up with my fumbling attempts to help, and got the job done in about an hour. Definitely will use them again and ask for Bryan first!

My wife had to go out of town on a business trip, so, I had the honey do list and decided to call Mr. Handyman. Well, Bryan Clifton was able to come out the same afternoon. He did an outstanding job. Was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the jobs that needed to be done. For a sink problems, he figured out he was not going to be able to do it so, he called his collage with the plumbing side of the company, Mr. Rooter. Another Bryan. Well, he also did any outstanding job, taking extra care to keep the area clean. Both men did an amazing jobs. I live in an old house that is always needed something done and I am getting a little too old to do these things, I have found the people to call now.

Stephen Powers of Mr. Handyman came to my house to replace a set of shutters after one of them had blown off of a 2nd story window on the front of my home during a storm. I had already ordered the replacement shutters, so I just needed one of the old shutters removed and the new set put into place. Though he had to retrieve a masonry drill bit before doing the work, Stephen completed the job in under an hour and the work he did is flawless. The new installation matched the old installation so well that everything matches perfectly and the work done is seamless. Stephen was super professional, helpful and polite and I would happily recommend Mr. Handyman for any home fix-up or improvements needs you might have.

How to Know When Your System Needs More Than a Filter Change

A dirty filter is the easiest fix in HVAC maintenance, and swapping it out every 1-3 months does make a real difference. But there are signs that point to something deeper, and recognizing them early saves money. Watch for these:

  • Unusual Sounds: banging, rattling, or squealing during startup or operation
  • Short Cycling: the system turns on and off repeatedly without completing a full heating or cooling cycle
  • Weak Airflow: vents that blow at reduced pressure, even with a clean filter
  • Inconsistent Temperatures: one room is 68°F, and another is 78°F with the same thermostat setting
  • Rising Energy Bills: a sudden increase without a change in usage habits

Any one of these warrants an AC repair in Hendersonville before the problem compounds. A refrigerant leak, for example, won't fix itself. If it's left alone, it causes the compressor to overheat or fail, and compressor replacement runs anywhere from $1,500 to $2,500, depending on the unit. Catching the leak early costs a fraction of that.

The Real Cost of Putting Off an Air Conditioning Repair

Delaying repairs is where homeowners spend the most money. A worn capacitor costs around $150-300 to replace. If it fails completely and takes the motor with it, that repair climbs to $400-700. If the motor failure leads to compressor damage, you're looking at a potential air conditioner replacement rather than a repair.

The pattern repeats across every component. A cracked heat exchanger that gets ignored can leak carbon monoxide into the home. A refrigerant leak that goes neglected burns out the compressor. A clogged condensate drain that isn't cleared causes water damage to the air handler and the surrounding structure.

Air conditioning repair in Hendersonville is more cost-effective in every case when the system gets serviced before failure rather than after. Scheduling a diagnostic when you first notice something off is always cheaper than waiting until the system stops working.

What Your HVAC System Has to Do With the Air You're Breathing

Most people call for an AC repair in Hendersonville when something stops working. Temperature and comfort issues are obvious. Air quality is harder to notice because it tends to shift gradually rather than all at once.

Your HVAC system circulates the air in your home continuously, which means it's also moving whatever's in that air, including dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and humidity. When the system is running well and the filters are clean, it handles a lot of that automatically. When it isn't, those things accumulate.

A few situations worth paying attention to are allergies or respiratory issues that seem worse indoors than outside, more dust than usual settling on surfaces, or air that smells off even with the windows closed. None of those are guaranteed to be HVAC-related, but they're worth mentioning when you schedule HVAC service in Hendersonville, because the answer is sometimes as simple as a filter swap or a duct cleaning.

Humidity is another piece worth paying attention to. An air conditioning unit that's undersized or struggling will fail to pull adequate moisture out of the air, which leaves rooms feeling sticky even when the temperature reads correctly.

What Happens During a Professional HVAC Inspection

When a technician comes out for an HVAC inspection, they're looking at the whole picture. Refrigerant levels, electrical connections, the heat exchanger, the condensate drain, and airflow performance against what the system's rated for.

For cooling, that means pulling back on the evaporator and condenser coils to check for buildup, making sure the blower motor's doing what it should, and confirming the thermostat isn't just reading the temperature but responding to it correctly. Heating inspections shift the focus over to the heat exchanger, ignition system, flue venting, and how the burners are performing.

The whole thing usually wraps up in an hour or two, and you walk away with a written summary of everything they found. It's a record of what's holding up, what's starting to wear, and what needs to get taken care of before the next season rolls around. A lot of systems end up needing air conditioning unit installation years too soon simply because nobody caught the early signs.
